Some Isp's such as Iburst and Mweb sometimes intercept smtp mail (port 25) and re-direct this to their own mail servers. This is done to prevent spammers from using their network to send spam. Unfortunately this blocks delivery of emails and there is only two ways to resolve this.
- Either you use the mail servers from the specific Isp, you will most likely have to get a username and password from them to send mail via these servers. Also any issues sending mail will have to be taken up with the specific Isp in the event mail is not delivered as we cannot access or monitor their servers.
- Configure your mail client with the following settings which will bypass this interception of email and this will use our mail servers for delivery of mail and in an event where mail issues are seen we will be able to address them:
- Click "New"
- Click "Next"
- Open Microsoft Outlook
- Click on "Tools" menu
- Click Account Settings
- Make sure the Microsoft Exchange/Pop option is selected and click "Next"
- Click the "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" option at the bottom and then click "Next"
- Click the Internet E-Mail option and click "Next"
- Enter the following in each box:
- Your name - Your name
- The email address you are setting up
- Incoming POP3 mail server - pop.xxxxx.co.za (Replace xxxx with your own domain name)
- Outgoing SMTP mail server - smtp.xxxxx.co.za
- Username - Same as the email address
- Password - your email password provided to you (Tick the remember password checkbox)
- Click "More Settings" button
- Select the Outgoing Server tab and make sure that My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked and use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
- Click on the advanced tab
- Under the smtp port, change the entry from port 25 to port 590
- Click OK,
- Click Next
- Click Finish
