To encrypt mail when sending between our servers and your email client use SSL/TLS encryption.
- To use TLS encryption you will :
- use the "secureXX.hostworx.co.za" server names for your pop and smtp servers
- use the "secureXX.hostworx.co.za" server names for your pop and smtp servers
- The hostworx mail server names to use for TLS encryption is secure49.hostworx.co.za, secure59.hostworx.co.za, etc.
- To determine which server to use you need to do one of the following:
- Either login to the hosting control panel, click hosting space info, click view space summary, scroll down to mail settings, highlighted in red are the secure server settings to use.
- Or open a command prompt (In Windows either "Click on Start > Programs > accessories > command prompt" OR "Click on Start > Run > Type in "CMD" > click OK"
- In the Command Prompt type in Ping mail.yourdomainname or ping smtp.yourdomainname (replace yourdomainname with your own domain name.) and press enter.
- Note the IP address the ping command returns. This will be 196.22.190.49, 196.22.190.59, 196.22.190.69, etc.
- If the ping returned 196.22.190.49 you will use "secure49.hostworx.co.za" for pop and smtp servers
- If the ping returned 196.22.190.59 you will use "secure59.hostworx.co.za" for pop and smtp servers
- This goes for the other servers, just replace the last digit ie 69, ie "secure69.hostworx.co.za", etc.
- Once you have determined the correct server name to use :
- Edit/Add your email account in outlook
- Enter the correct mail server names in the server fields as determined in step 3.
- Use your email address as the account name and your password supplied to you.
- Click on "More settings"
- Click on the second tab and enable outbound smtp authentication
- Under the Advanced tab under incoming mail server, check the use ssl checkbox, and make sure the port number indicated is correct, POP uses port 995 and IMAP uses port 993, under the Outgoing SMTP server "use the following type of encryption" field select "AUTO" and make sure the port is set to 465.
- (Please Note : In other email clients these settings will be located in slightly different locations normally under the respective server settings.)
Do an email test by sending yourself an email, if everything is working you should receive an email addressed to yourself.
