MacMail 5.2 - Setup & Configuration

Mail server settings

  • Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.yourdomainname (replace yourdomainname with your own domain)
  • Incoming Server Port Numbers: 110 / 995
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.yourdomainname
  • Outgoing Server Port Numbers: 587

In Apple Mail, use the above information as follows -- In Mail version 5.2 for Mac OSX 10.7.x:

  • Mail > Preferences   Accounts tab > Account Information tab
  • Description (tailor to your needs): Give it a name to describe your account
  • Email Address:   enter your full email address
  • Full Name:   Enter the name you want to display when people receive your mail, ie John Sunderland, etc
  • Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourowndomainname
  • User Name: your full email address
  • Passsword:      enter your password for your account
  • TLS Certificate: None
  • Accounts tab > Advanced tab
  • Port: 110   [ unchecked ] Use SSL 995
  • Authentication: Password
  • Accounts tab > Account Information tab > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):  Edit SMTP Server List ... (select from pull-down)
  • Account Information tab:
  • Description: Give it a name you want to refer to it by, ie HostworX
  • Server Name:   mail.yourdomainname
  • Advanced tab:
  • Use custom port: 587    [unchecked] Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
  • Authentication: Password
  • User Name: your full email address
  • Password:   enter your password for your account
  • CLICK "OK"
  • Close Mail Preferences
