How to Find Your Email Settings in DirectAdmin

DirectAdmin allows you to view and manage email accounts for your domain.

You may need your email settings when setting up email in Outlook, iPhone, Android, Thunderbird, or another email app.

This guide explains where to find your email account information and the common settings used for HostworX email.

What Email Settings Do I Need?

To set up an email account, you usually need:

  • Email address
  • Email password
  • Incoming mail server
  • Outgoing mail server
  • Account type
  • Incoming port
  • Outgoing port
  • SSL or encryption setting
  • SMTP authentication

Your username is usually your full email address.

Example:

info@yourdomain.co.za

Step 1 – Log Into DirectAdmin

Open your browser and visit: https://cp.yourdomain.co.za (Replace yourdomain.co.za with your own domain name.)

Enter your DirectAdmin username and password.

Click: Log In

Step 2 – Open Email Accounts

Once you are logged into DirectAdmin, open the email accounts area.

Click: E-mail Manager

Then click: E-mail Accounts

You should now see the email accounts created under your domain.

Step 3 – Find the Email Account

Look for the email account you want to set up.

Locate: Email account, example: info@yourdomain.co.za

If the email account does not exist, it must be created before it can be used in an email app.

Step 4 – Check or Change the Email Password

If you do not know the email password, you can change it from the email account settings.

Locate: Change Password

Enter a new secure password.

Save the change.

After changing the password, update the password in Outlook, phones, tablets, and any other email apps using the mailbox.

Common HostworX Email Settings

For all HostworX email accounts, the mail server format is:  mail.yourdomain.co.za (Replace yourdomain.co.za with your own domain name.)

Use your full email address as the username.

Example:

info@yourdomain.co.za

IMAP Settings

Use IMAP if you want email to synchronize across multiple devices.

Account type: IMAP

Incoming server: mail.yourdomain.co.za

Incoming port: 993

Encryption: SSL/TLS

Username: your full email address

Password: your email account password

POP3 Settings

Use POP3 if you mainly use one computer and want email downloaded locally.

Account type: POP3

Incoming server: mail.yourdomain.co.za

Incoming port: 995

Encryption: SSL/TLS

Username: your full email address

Password: your email account password

SMTP Settings

SMTP is used for sending email.

Outgoing server: mail.yourdomain.co.za

Outgoing port: 465 or 587

Encryption: SSL/TLS or STARTTLS

Username: your full email address

Password: your email account password

SMTP authentication: Enabled

Step 5 – Test the Mailbox in Webmail

Before setting up an email app, it is useful to test the mailbox in webmail.

If webmail works, the mailbox and password are correct.

If the email app still fails, the issue is usually related to the app settings, ports, SSL settings, or SMTP authentication.

Important Notes

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Your email username is usually your full email address.
  • Your email password is different from your DirectAdmin password unless you made it the same.
  • If you change the email password, update all devices using that mailbox.
  • IMAP is usually recommended for multiple devices.
  • POP3 must be configured carefully if used on more than one device.
  • If your domain uses Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoho Mail, or another external provider, use that provider’s settings instead.

When Should I Contact HostworX Support?

Contact HostworX Support if:

  • You cannot find the email account.
  • You do not know the email password.
  • Webmail does not work.
  • Your email app cannot connect.
  • You can receive email but cannot send.
  • You can send email but cannot receive.
  • You are unsure whether your domain uses HostworX email or an external provider.

Conclusion

You can find and manage your email accounts from DirectAdmin.

For email apps, you usually need your full email address, email password, incoming server, outgoing server, ports, SSL settings, and SMTP authentication.

Testing the mailbox in webmail first can help confirm whether the mailbox and password are working.
